Parvovirus B19?

Post a new topicby medawkins on Thu Jan 03, 2008 12:49 am

It started two weeks ago when i took off my socks. My shins felt like they were on fire and itchy. I looked and I had a rash right along my sock line. Through the night and into the next morning it spread up my legs. It was a flat red rash that was solid and looked like it faded out into little dots along the top of the rash line. It itched and burned uncontrollably. It then was on my arms and chest a little too. I went to the Doc and he thought it was an allergic reaction to latex or something from my socks. He gave me prednazone and allegra. That did nothing. My face also felt a little numb. The rash faded in about 3 days or so, but left me with a pins and needles feeling in my feet that sometimes itches or burns or just feels numb. I have had musle soreness all over my body on and off. no fever. My throat is now super sore. it kills to swallow, like musle pain (not scratchy) I notice my daughter had bright red cheeks 4 days after rash first showed up (slapped cheek syndrome?) It would be bright one minute and normal looking the next and then bright red again. It lasted about 4 days. My cheeks have been really red on and off too. I thought it was rosacea since I have had redness before, but I am thinking that this is possibly related now. The rash on my cheeks looks really red at times and there are little broken capillaries that weren't there two weeks ago. But the most annoying is the pain, itching, and numbness in my feet. Also my ankles are sore and my knee caps are hurting now. I am curious what the heck this is. I started looking around on the internet and came across the parvo b19 which fits with my daughters facial rash and mine. possible the gloves and socks thing too, but i didn't know if it had to be and the hands and feet. there is nothing on my hands, but the rash I saw on the net does look similar to the rash i had. The doc seems puzzled and said to get an EMG, but is that necessary for a virus that needs to work its way out? I have been taking a B complex vitamin, but nothing seems to help. Anyone know what this is that I am going through? There are some scary things out there on the net and this luckily just seems like it might take time. I am praying its not what the doc had mentioned as a possibility, cocksicckae?sp virus???
I'd be grateful for any input!
