Inflammation/red spots on glans

Post a new topicby moriarty on Sun Jun 28, 2009 9:26 am

Hello,

For as long as I can remember I have had a reocurring problem with small (2-10mm) red spots/areas on and just below the glans. They only appear after +2 days or so of bad hygiene due to being out camping or not having access to showers and so on at festivals or the like. I've always considered them relatively normal and non-problematic due to their fast healing (they dissappear within 24-48 hours given proper hygiene/cleaning). I've always just thought of myself as especially sensitive to bacteria etc. and haven't really given them much thought. Until now that is.

For a month now I have had two unusually large inflammations (together covering an unpresidented 30 % of the head) that show no signs of healing/fading away. There is the occasional pain but it is very weak and sometimes almost subliminal. I haven't done anything so far besides normal personal hygiene (washing with water) and have just assumed that they will go away on their own. Now I'm starting to get worried thinking about the possibility that the inflammation might lead to the formation of scar tissue and/or permanent discoloration. Do I need antibiotics and/or other treatment? I'm pretty sure there is no STD involved as I haven't been sexually active for a good part of a year.

Would be grateful for any help or ideas on how to go forward with this...
