Hodgkins or not?

Post a new topicby kauslaw on Sat Mar 29, 2008 2:59 am

I am not sure if I should worry about these symptoms:
I have an enlarged lymph node on the left side under my chin. It has been swollen for three months, but in the last few days it has become really swollen and the right equivalent has become swollen and tender. However, the left one is not sore. I have a genetic predisposition to cancer, so I now I need to be careful. I am only seventeen and I don't want to seem like a hypochondriac, going to the doctor for a cancer check needlessly. On the other hand, I don't want to ignore the systems in the hope they will just go away. Do you think I have reason to worry about Hodgkin's disease or non-Hodgkins Lymphoma?

Whether it is Hodgkins or not a lymph gland that is as swollen as you note needs medical attention. Given your age I'd not be worried about Hodgkins lymphoma. Those nodes deal primarily with infections and somethings clearly amiss with that one. See a doctor ASAP (today would be nice)!
