Anxiety, urination and bowl

Post a new topicby ishaque on Tue Dec 23, 2008 1:26 pm

I recently experienced acute anxiety attack in the last week due to sudden death of my cousin. The anxiety progressed in last month or so with usual symptoms including diarrhea/constipation, frequent urination, tense neck muscles, etc. In this state I also got little focused and anxious about by urine (output and color). Googling made it worst when I related little foam or little reduction in urine to onset of kidney disease. Last weekend all this manifested into full anxiety/panic attack with total loss of rational and fear in control. The attack created lot of symptoms but given my mental concern on kidneys the attack created intense pain in the aback (flank) and lower abdomen. I tried to relax through the night and the attack which lasted few hrs subsided. However, in the morning I noticed little urine output and no bowl movement. I panicked again and called paramedics. They took me to hospital. BP was 130/100 at the time of anxitety attack but normal EKG Doctor checked chest and back for abnormal sounds but all was well. There was still distress in the lower pelvic region. I was put on anti-anxiety pill (1mg). Later in the day when I got relaxed urine output resumed which I think was normal. However, I had lost my appetite and water intake during the last few days. The anxiety persisted for another day or so during which time I saw my personal doctor and explained the situation. When I saw the doctor I was still under abdominal distress and flank pain. (These symptoms varies with intensity of anxiety - no anxiety no pain). He took Blood and Urine tests (Urine was still under reduced flow). BP was normal and physical check at the back did not indicate any swelling or abnormality of kidneys. I am 40 year . The test results are back and are normal except ketones.

Creatinine .83
egfr 89 using IDMS (otherwise 95)
Protein Negative
Glucose Negative
PH 6
Ketones 3.6 My doctor asked and I advised due to anxiety I did not eat all day before the test that took place at 4:pm so was starving for at least 20 hrs

Now that I am slightly relaxed I am urinating fine twice to thrice a day. Still feel urine output to be less than normal and bowl movement is still constricted. I am still under some anxiety. If I worry about kidney I feel pain in the back otherwise I don't.

I am concerned about by egfr but doctor advised that with anxiety stress, lower water intake and ketones the value is underestimated . Lab results indicate normal.

Please advise if the results are normal for urology point of view.

Lately I become so conscious with myself. A friend said its only in the head and I am only making things worst for me. See I developed melasma on both cheeks and it become prominent that it is everything I see everytime I see the mirror. I cant sleep, i cant eat well and i urinate frequently. I lost interest in the things i do, i worry a lot. I hate what I see. I don't know what to do, i keep trying to tell myself its not that bad. I urinate frequently than usual however i dont see any changes in my vowel movement. I think I am psychologically sick. I need some advise.
