My husb had a lesion removed from his back by general practioner biopsy came back as melanoma in situ. He n visited a dermatologist who did anor exam we both felt exam very quick not thorough. He gave us a very positive prognosis as 100% cured we would like a second opinion. do suggest how can we find a dermatology oncologist in a? Thank .

The standard of care regarding melanoma in situ is that the growth be removed with a 0.5 cm margin of healthy tissue around. If this was done, then you have had adequate care. Your husband should be seen by a dermatologist at least twice a year for now. A second melanoma can occur. It is very unusual for a melanoma in situ to develop any recurrence after removal, so I agree with the facorable prognosis. I do not have a recommendation for a dermatologist, you can ask around to your friends, etc.
