You will need to have a biopsy specimen tested for certain immune system markers. Some markers are seen in lymphomatoid papulosis, such as Ki-1. Your pathologist will most likely recommend that these immune stains get done to help nail down a more specific diagnosis. While lymphomatoid papulosis can progress to systemic lymphoma, it is not malignant. You would still need to be followed on a regular basis. Your dermatolgist may want to take more biopsies at a regular interval to see if the condition has progressed to an actual cancer. Sometimes we have several dermatopathologists look at the slide to see what they think. Just like dermatologists could have differing viewpoints, so can pathologists. My feeling is that you will be followed closely and rebiopsied until a more definitive diagnosis is set. Good luck.
