    in march of 2009, I was shocked to hear from my dermatologist that a red, ithcy ‘mole’ aquired from a vacation in Mexico was malignant melanoma, superficial spreading. I went for a wide excision, surgery was same day, recovery went well. My surgeon commented ” i’m not worried about this one, it’s finding the next”. the lesson to be learned is to avoid tanning and tanning beds! Use sunscreen.
