New...and really freaking out, please help

Post a new topicby cvicaro on Wed Sep 02, 2009 10:05 am

Hi everyone...I am new...My 22 month old daughter has a oval shaped mole on the instep of her right foot...it has gotten bigger over the last 6 months. Was not present at birth or noticable at one year. It has fuzzy border, fairly even dark brown coloring. smaller than a pencil erasure. My pediatrician has seen it before and just told me to keep an eye on it..at her last well check a week ago he said it looked a little atypical and advised us to see a plastic surgeon for possible removal..

Saw the specialist and he said it needed to come off...he said he thought it was probably just a dysplastic nevus/atypical mole..but he couldn't be sure until they took it off, I am so scared. She is having it excised tomorrow...I am freaking out....I can't quit thinking she has melanoma.....has anyone else had anything like this happen to them or a child?

Does anyone have any idea what I should expect.....
