perioral dermatitis

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Jun 16, 2001 12:16 pm

I'm currently taking 250mg of tetracycline, four times a day for perioral dermatitis. Because of the eating restrictions connected with this drug, I was wondering if I can take 2 tablets,(500mg) twice a day (about 12 hours apart). Also, avoiding the sun while taking this medication is also a restriction. Being that I work outside, can I wear a sunblock to prevent any adverse reaction from the sun? Thanks for your help.

Good questions. Yes, 500 mg twice daily is fine. That is actually the standard dosing used. Also, most people do not get the sun sensitivity, but since it can occur, it is best to use sunscreen as well as a hat if possible.
