Mold, yeast or other?

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Jul 12, 2001 2:29 pm

I have a daughter who is four. She has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis A few months after she was diagnosed, she developed a rash on the side of her body that has the swollen joints. Her primary dr. said it was vitiligo, because it is white and not itchy.
THis morning she saw a dermatologist who said it definately wasn't vitiligo because it is raised. It is about 12cm. and spreading up her leg. He is going to do a biopsy. But he did say that it could be mold, or yeast, or related to her rhuematoid arthritis.

I am wondering what in the world is a mold or yeast rash and how is it treated.
Is it likely this will spread?

If it turns out to be autoimmune is it strictly cosmetic or is there more of a problem?
Any info. or insight would be helpful. Thankyou!

I guess he is testing it for a fungus infection, easy to get from the environment. I would await the biopsy result. It does not sound serious and I bet it is treatable. Good luck. Let me know.
