Bullous (meaning "related to blisters") pemphigoid is a blistering disease that is seen most commonly in elderly persons. Unlike pemphigus, where loose and broken blisters are seen, pemphigoid produces large, tense blisters of the skin and, rarely, the mucous membranes.
